 November 11, 2018 Amphasys selected to Join IPIEC Global Business Development Tour in China

On October 26th Amphasys presented its innovative technology for pollen quality analysis at the Swiss chapter of IPIEC Global in Geneva. We are proud to be one of 4 selected Swiss startups that get the chance for the IPIEC Global business development tour in China starting in December 2018.

 September 25, 2018 Amphasys at ESA Annual Meeting in Madrid (Oct 07 - 09, 2018)

From October 7th to 9th, Amphasys will be present at the ESA European Seed Association 2018 Annual European Seed Trade Meeting in Madrid, Spain. Our team Pamela Klein and Ruthger Van Zwieten will be presenting the benefits of pollen quality monitoring for breeding and seed and crop production at booth 29. Schedule a meeting.

 September 15, 2018 4th Edition of the Amphacademy Symposium held at Root D4 (Sept 14 - 15, 2018)

From September 14 - 15, 2018 the international Amphasys community gathered at Root D4 for the 4th edition of the yearly Amphacademy symposium. The scientific get together of experienced researchers and Ampha Z32 users offered a diverse agenda with scientific presentations and practical workshops.  September 8, 2018 Amphasys Giving a Lecture at Seed Meets Technology (Sept 25 - 26, 2018)

Predicting seed yields under changing environmental conditions is a big challenge for seed producers. Sufficient pollination with good quality pollen is a key factor in achieving high seed yields. In his talk, Dr. Marcel Ottiger discusses how pollen quality monitoring, from pollen collection to storage and pollination facilitates more accurate predictions of the seed set.  July 18, 2018 Strong Interest in Pollen Quality Monitoring in Australia

In June the Amphasys sales team visited Australia for a demo tour with our new distribution partner ICT International. The trip started with the installation of an Ampha Z32 at the University of Sydney for use in their wheat breeding program and was followed by visits to Central Queensland University, Rijk Zwaan and University of Queensland. We were very pleased with the good discussions that we had and the overwhelming interest shown in pollen viability applications.

One of the highlights of the trip was attending the ISF World Seed Congress in Brisbane, where we had many interesting discussions on various applications – ranging from how to implement yield forecasting to how to best control the pollen quality through storage and transportation.

We thank all visitors at our booth and of course our strong distribution partners ICT International and Zealquest for their support during the meeting!

PowerPollen, an Iowa based start-up developed an innovative technology that enables supplemental pollination on corn fields to maximize yields.The pollen quality, essential to their business, is analyzed at harvest, for pollen storage optimization and right before pollination with the AmphaZ32 to ensure optimal pollination.

 August 25, 2017 New yeast application available on Ampha Z32

Yeast is a single cell fungus widely used in biopharmaceutical production and in the food and beverage industry. In order to control these production processes, for example to improve production yields and quality of the products, monitoring of the yeast viability and cell density is crucial.
Methods for yeast viability testing, as well as viable and dead cell density determination are now also available on the Ampha Z32. Contact us for more details...

 August 24, 2017 Amphasys wins “Zinno Innovation Price” for new yeast application

The price endowed with CHF 15’000 is donated by “Zentralschweiz Innovativ” (in short “Zinno”), an interregional Swiss program to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses located in Central Switzerland. Amphasys convinced the jury with its rapid and accurate method for yeast viability testing using impedance flow cytometry.

April 28, 2017 Global warming - new publication about heat tolerance in pollen viability

High temperatures interfere with sexual reproduction and thus fruit and seed set. Heat tolerance was analyzed, among other things, by pollen viability and pollen number. Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were identified for most of these traits, including a single, highly significant one for pollen viability, which accounted for 36% of phenotypic variation in the population and modified pollen viability under high temperature with around 20%. Feb. 19, 2017 The new 80 μm chips are available!

The new chips are designed to further increase the sensitivity for cells with a size of 15 to 40 μm. This chip is particularly useful for the analysis of small pollen, especially in combination with the 120 and 250 μm chips, because the same fluidic system can be used.

Impedance Flow Cytometry: A Novel Technique in Pollen Analysis. Analysis of pollen viability plays an important role in various aspects of plant breeding and production processes. Here, we show that the label-free analysis of pollen based on their dielectric properties by impedance flow cytometry (IFC) is a very efficient method for the determination of pollen viability and microspore maturation in a high throughput manner. The proven AmphaSoft for acquisition and analysis of impedance flow cytometry measurements has been completely redesigned for state-of-the-art user friendliness, speedy experiments and integration of accessory tools for automated high-thoughput viability analysis. At the CSEM Microtalk in Alpnach, Amphasys will present its novel "lab-on-chip" technology and applications. The mobile equipment in combination with the label-free analysis enable many applications which were previously not possible.

May 9, 2016 Amphasys introduces Autosampler at Analytica 2016

April 30, 2016 Amphasys enters the Chinese and Indian Markets

March 17, 2016 Bachelor Thesis supported by Amphasys wins Lab Sciences Award

The Veronika and Hugo Bohny Stiftung recognizes exceptional Bachelor Theses with the "Lab Sciences Award". Amphasys has contributed support and the topic of "Signal processiong and data mining in impedance flow cytometry". The two students Simon Castelberg and Sebastian Lang have succeeded in working out an algorythm for an optimized signal processing which will be available in future AmphaSoft releases (see StartupTicker).

Ampha Z30 is now more mobile than ever: With our new rechargeable batteries the Instrument can be operated independent of any power plug. A battery provides power for about 4 to 5 hours. They are available as single pieces, as a double battery kit or as part of the mobility kit including a robust transport case and a 12 V car adapter.
